The story centers on the life of Billy Lynn, who is a part of the soldier unit called "Bravo Squad." He returns to the United States, along with the other survivors from their short intense war in Iraq. The war is called "the Battle of Al-Ansakar Canal."

To be recognized as war heroes, the squad are sent on a "Victory Tour" by the government to raise support for the war. They became guests for the thanksgiving game of the Dallas Cowboys and appeared during the halftime show with Destiny's Child.

Later on, the government did not let go of the squad and they are requested to go back to Iraq, which made Lynn feel disappointed and prompted him to engross in a fight. However, Lynn in a while forms a cherished relationship with Cowboy's cheerleader, who becomes stunned when she finds out that Lynn is reporting back to duty in spite of their achievements.

The cheerleader comforts Lynn by saying that she is willing to keep in touch with him to make their relationship work. But then, Lynn's pessimism made him think that people are not willing to wait for years to come back. He then leaves and bargains well-being in his companions as they leave the Cowboy's stadium.

Diesel and Tucker have unknown roles yet at this point, together with Steve Martin and Ben Platt. But along with them, the cast includes Garrett Hedlund as Dime, Kristen Stewart as Kathryn Lynn, and newcomer Joe Alwyn as Billy Lynn.

The film will be utilizing native 3D and 4K while revolutionizing a new ultra-high frame rate technology, as per Deadline. This will be useful for the film sequences, especially in war scenes.

The project is now in pre-production in Atlanta, Georgia in United States with Lee as the director. Brian Bell, Simon Cornwell, Stephen Cornwell, Marc Platt, Tom Rothman, and Rhodri Thomas will co-produce while Simon Beauffoy and Jean-Christophe Castelli are set to pen the screenplay.

At this point, there is no release date for the project yet so people have to wait for future details with regard to the release, plot, and casting roles.
