Ford's design team will have a great challenge at The Milan Furniture Fair by creating items using the interior features of the Ford GT and showcase them on furniture ideas.
The Milan Furniture Fair which will be held in Italy this week will include a Ford lounge that will feature non-automotive projects which were created specifically only for the design show.
It does not mean in any way that Ford is going into the furniture industry but rather taking the concepts and philosophy of Ford GT's interior features which can be applied to other products. The projects will promote the design team's skills and talent when it comes to conceiving ideas which can be useful in the creation of future Ford automobiles in the future, Detroit Free Press reported.
The Ford gallery will include a design created by Russell Sims, Ford's digital sculptor, created a racing sailboat that features the Ford GT's interior style. Design and style manager Tyler Blake created an illustration of an electric guitar that had the interior features of the Ford GT.
Other designs and sketches which borrowed some of the Ford GT's features are: a suitcase, a magnetic hoover board, a ping-pong table, a lamp, a table and sofa, a picnic case, a razor, a totem lamp, and a sandwich, according to Eagle Current.
The show allows the Ford designers to use the Ford GT's interior features new unified design language for non-automotive projects, explained Ford design chief Moray Cullum.
According to Cullum, the outside world only sees 15 percent to 20 percent of what their designers do because "automakers create several alternative designs for every vehicle before choosing one to produce," which shows "the breadth of talent" they have in their studios.
