Ford Motor Company has started the production of the four-cylinder EcoBoost engines at their Cleveland Engine Plant. Their 2-Liter and 2.3-Liter EcoBoost engines with be out in the market for the Ford Edge 2015 (2.1L) and Ford Mustang, Lincoln, Explorer, and MKC (2.3L). The idea of producing such engines started in 2013's decision done by the company to transfer some of its engine manufacturing from Europe to the United States.
These EcoBoost engines meant for North America market will be manufactured at the said plant right after the shift from Valencia, Spain. The mobile maker declared that there were around four million EcoBoost engines on the road and that they are committed in offering affordable and fuel-efficient engines to their customers.
The latest Ford Edge 2015 that has the 2Liter EcoBoost engine is expected to be out on sale within the year, according to The Next Digit.
"The hardworking team at Cleveland engine is proud to build two of the most technologically advanced engines," said Bruce Hettle, Ford VP, North America Manufacturing.
This shift decision by Ford marked some $200 million investment for the new products which is good for Cleveland as it created about 450 jobs.
The United States government is happy that such move by Ford was done completely. US Senator Sherrod Brown explained that it is promising that the company decided to bring back the production to America. He also added that Ford's continued investment in Cleveland shows the strengths of the American workers, News Maine reported.
Ford is expecting that the local manufacturing of these engines will boost the sales cross-overs like the Explorer and Edge.
There was no mention of work force decrease in Europe.
