With only 3 games left in the regular season, Laker guard Jeremy Lin may have already played his last in the world known yellow uniform, Probasketball Talk reported.
Lin has been sidelined for two consecutive games due to a sore knee and LA have not qualified for a play-off, the Asian sensation may have decided to hang his jersey to rest his banged-up body.
According to Los Angeles Times, Lin wants to finish out the season with just three games remaining in their schedule. As a Laker, Lin has been averaging 11.2 points per outing with a 42.2% which is slightly below his average when he used to play for the New York Knicks. Lin is also the second highest paid Laker after superstar Kobe Bryant.
Based on an MRI, Lin's knee showed an abnormal cartilidge but was ruled out as serious. It might have been caused by a knee procedure he had in 2012 and was listed as a day to day by the Lakers organization.
Laker's head coach Byron Scott and team mate Nick Young have been both critical to Lin on this season, which is by far the worst outing of the legendary team who had produced multiple tittles in the early 80s and 2000s.
Considering Scott's "treatment" with regards to Lin, it might be a long shot for him to play again under the former Laker guard and now coach this coming season. Another factor would be his salary, the Lakers organization only agreed to give him the "bloated salary" because the Houston Rockets also gave the Lakers their right for a first round draft when Lakers and Rockets signed a deal for Lin.
Nonetheless, Lin will be end up somewhere as a free agent but may not get what he was wants - to be a Laker.
