In the middle of pre-production, film helmer Michelle MacLaren will not be pushing through her directorship over the upcoming film "Wonder Woman." Warner Bros. Studio will also conduct tests sessions for a male lead role.
MacLaren has decided not to go on with Warner Bros. in advancing and helming "Wonder Woman," as per The Hollywood Reporter. The director's decision is influenced by creative differences according to the studio.
A similar occasion took place in 2011, which involved Marvel Studios and film helmer Patty Jenkins. She was eyed to spearhead "Thor 2," which would have recognized her as the first female director of Marvel. However, the said film, currently known as "Thor: The Dark World," was passed to film helmer Alan Taylor after a stand-off between her and Marvel.
MacLaren is known for her contributions in television shows by directing episodes of shows such as "Better Call Saul," "Breaking Bad," "Game of Thrones," and "The Walking Dead."
There are no specified differences that led to the director and the studio to part ways and there is no statement coming from the film helmer. At this point, Warner Bros. has to look for someone to take over the director's chair.
Meanwhile, the studio is currently in the process of securing other roles for the film. They will be conducting test offers for the male leads on Monday, as per Variety. "The Longest Ride" Actor Scott Eastwood has been rumored to play the role of Steve Tremor, Wonder Woman's love interest, in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, but it looks like it is untrue. Instead, the studio will be testing four actors for the role of Trevor.
Actress Gal Gadot is still attached to her role as "Wonder Woman."
The film is to be co-produced by Geoff Johns, Stephen Jones, Benny Medina, Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, and Richard Suckle. Jason Fuchs is in charge to pen the screenplay.
"Wonder Woman" is slated to premiere in theaters on Jun. 23, 2017.
