Cadillac ELR suffered very low sales prompting the manufacturer to reduce the price by $10,000 and to boost its performance to pick up the sales.
The automobile now costs $65,995 from $75,995, according to USA Today. Buyers can further lower the price by deducting the tax, bringing the price to $58,495 The Detroit Bureau stated.
Not only the price factor, the car buyers should pay attention to the fact that Cadillac is leaving no stone unturned to boost the performance of the ELR with the following specifications:
1. The engine will be getting a software update.
2. The power of car and the torque will be boosted up by 25 percent.
3. The acceleration time will be 60 miles per hour.
4. The top speed of the car will be boosted.
5. There will also be an optional performance pack, which will be priced of course.
6. The stopping distance has been improved by 12 percent.
The updated version of the car will be as good as a new car, said a Cadillac official in a recent interview. The car can already run 39 miles on electric power alone, and after incorporating the enhancement features, the car will be as good as an uncompromised luxurious car.
The company took this bold step after it sold only 311 units of the ELR in the initial 3 months of this year while Tesla sold 3,500 units in the same time.
