Consumers who pre-ordered the Microsoft Surface 3 may not receive their devices on May 5, which is the release date of the tablet to retailer.
Surface 3 was announced weeks ago and was immediately available for pre-order in Microsoft Store. Most people place pre-orders to ensure that they get the device on the release date without the need to wait in line or rely on the stocks of retailers. Delivering the device on time is also a great strategy for companies to make consumers commit to the purchase.
The tablet will reportedly hit the retailers on May 5. It seemed that people who pre-ordered the device may not receive the device on the said date. According to SurperSite for Windows, the Microsoft Surface 3 will hit the delivery pipeline on May 5 and not earlier. This means that there is a chance that consumers will get their hands on the tablet at a later date since shipping is subjected to a variety of factors like reliability of the carrier as well as the shipping warehouse location.
DigiTimes reported that Microsoft is aiming to ship 4 million units of the tablet this year.
According to Maine News Online, the new Surface 3 tablet is a thinner and lighter version of the hybrid device - Surface Pro 3. The tablet comes with a 10.8-inch screen display with a Full HD (1920x1280) pixel resolution and is powered by the new Intel Atom processor dubbed as Cherry Trail. Other features of the device are: 8-megapixel rear camera; a 3.5-megapixel front camera; a full-size USB 3.0 port; a mini-DisplayPort; a micro-USB 2.0 slot; and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
