Making his first public appearance since leaving the band One Direction, Zayn Malik attended the Asian Awards 2015 on April 17at a London hotel, sporting a brand new look. The singer was accompanied by his mother, Trisha Malik.
The 22-year-old looked uber cool as she showed off his shaved head. The singer' wavy, lustrous hair is gone as he opted for buzz cut, but leaving his moustache and beard in place.
Malik's new look was quite unexpected and jolting for his fans. But that is not all. The singer has also got his nose pierced and was wearing a new, glittery silver nose stud on his left nostril for the event.
The former One Direction star seems to be trying to reinvent himself as a solo artist by starting with a fresh look. At the award ceremony, Malik looked happy and content with his life changing decision.
"I'd like to thank my mum and dad, and I'd also like to take this moment to thank four of the best guys I've ever met, everything I've done with them will stay with me for the rest of my life," said the singer in his acceptance speech, People reported. Watch the singer's acceptance speech below.
Malik looked dapper in a navy blue suit paired with a white collared shirt and a black tie which complimented his new hairstyle.
One of the founder members of the band One Direction, Malik, shocked his fans and even his manager Simon Cowell when he announced unexpectedly on March 25 his departure from the band. The singer cited too much stress and a desire for a normal life for his decision.
Later, Malik clarified that he is planning to come up as a solo musician. In collaboration with the Bristish music producer Naughty Boy, a teaser of the singer's solo track was released on SoundCloud which was swiftly removed witnessing the fury of One Direction's fans and his former band mate, Louis Tomlinson, Daily Mail reported.
