Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, and Vivica Fox are confirmed to return to Roland Emmerich's science-fiction film "Independence Day 2."

The production team of "Independence Day 2" is in the middle of locking down roles for the upcoming film and has recently confirmed Pullman, Hirsch, and Fox as its returning cast, as per Empire Online.

After "Independence Day," Pullman appeared in films and television series such as "1600 Penn," "Cymbeline," "Red Sky," and "The Equalizer." For Emmerich's sequel, the actor will reprise his role as former President Thomas J. Whitmore.

Hirsch will be returning with his role as Julius Levinson, father of Jeff Goldblum's David Levinson. The actor is known for his roles in films like "A Beautiful Mind" and "Numb3ers." He also appeared in television series like "Small Miracles," "Maron," and "Forever."

Fox appeared in film such as "Kill Bill," "Assassin's Game," and "6 ways to Sundown" after playing Jasmine Dubrow in Emmerich's "Independence Day." In the sequel, the actress will reprise her role as Dubrow, the mother of Jessie Usher's Dylan Dubrow.

Aside from Pullman, Hirsch, and Fox, the film stars Jeff Goldblum, Travis Tope, Brent Spiner, Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Joey King.  

"Men In Black" star Will Smith will not be returning to the sequel, as previously noted in Deadline. He played the role of Captain Steven Hiller in the 1993 original film.

After "Independence Day," Smith appeared in films like "I, Robot," "Hancock," Winter's Tale," and "Focus." The actor is currently attached to David Ayer's anti-hero film "Suicide Squad," where he will be playing Deadshot.

The exact plot details for "Independence Day 2" are still unknown and have to be revealed yet. For now, fans have to wait for further announcement and updates.

Emmerich is set to helm the film, along with Marc Weigert, Carsten Lorenz, Harald Kloser, Volker Engel, Ute Emmerich, and Dean Devlin as his co-producers. Nicolas Wright, James Woods, and Carter Blanchard are set to pen the screenplay.

"Independence Day 2" is set to hit theaters in the United States on June 24, 2016.
