Republic Wireless is pushing a new and innovative data plan scheme that will credit its customers based on unused data on their monthly plans.

The company announced this on Monday and will be starting the beta phase of the new billing system by next month, according to BGR.

The beta or testing phase will run for at least a month. This new data plan is aimed for consumers who do not demand large data and will also cater those who rely most of their data through Wi-Fi connections rather than the usual cellular network.

Republic Wireless CEO David Morken said in a statement, "You should only have to pay for (the cellular data) you use. And that's what we're trying to do."

Morken added that this new data plan will help more than 80 percent of their subscribers who consumes less than 1 gigabyte of data every month. It is also important to note that unlimited data plans are designed and priced for consumers who use huge amounts of data on a monthly basis.

For Republic customers who are currently enrolled in unlimited data plan, they have the option to switch to the new data plan if they wanted to or they can keep the original plan that they have.

Republic's current unlimited data plan on the 3G network is priced $25 per month and the one on the 4G network is priced $40. Unlimited talk time and text messaging is available on both plans, according to News Observer.

Republic is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), which means that it does not have its own network infrastructure. Instead, the company leases cellular network service from big telecommunications company, like Sprint, for them to be able to deliver their own brand of service.
