"NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 6, Episode 21 opens with Arkady climbing flights of stairs to a building's parking area. When he gets to his car, a man attempts to kill him with a gun. Battle ensues; one of them survives. After the gun was fired, the survivor walks away and blows up Arkady's car.

Callen's colleagues at NCIS L.A. initially believed Arkady was gone, until the man himself shows up before Sam (LL COOL J) and Callen. Sam repeatedly asks Callen whether he's okay, knowing that the man who has links to his family history may have died. Callen says he's got mixed feelings about it.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 6, Episode 21 is focused on Callen and Arkady's story. Later, when Callen runs ready to take a bullet for Arkady, the elder man jokes that Callen may not be ambivalent about his life, after all.

When Granger (Miguel Ferrer) asks Hetty (Linda Hunt) whether she's worried about Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) taking on the case as partners, Hetty says she is more worried about Callen. Hetty highlights to Granger that Callen has only one link left to his family history.

"Loyalty to party, loyalty to motherland," reads the KGB medallion that Callen finds in the burnt remains of Arkady's car. He later returns the medallion to Arkady and they take turns in pronouncing the slogan.

"But loyalty to family trumps them both," Callen quips. Arkady responds, "Every time."

"NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 6, Episode 21 involves Arkady's deal involving a super tanker carrying oil that's worth up to one million dollars. When Arkady has left, however, the team realizes that the vessel's beacon can no longer be reached.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 6, Episode 22, titled "Field of Fire," airs on May 4.
