Cissy Houston, the mother of the late Whitney Houston, confirmed that her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown is still unresponsive. This is after Bobby Brown told the audience at a concert in Dallas, Texas that his daughter was "awake" and was "watching" him perform.
In a statement released to People, Cissy said she has recently returned from visiting Bobbi Kristina in the hospital. She said her granddaughter is no longer in a medically induced coma but she has a tracheotomy.
"According to the doctors, she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive," Cissy said of Bobbi Kristina's current condition adding that she is truly saddened by meeting with the doctors and understanding that her granddaughter can live in such a condition for a lifetime.
Cissy also said, "We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers."
The Houston family also told TMZ that Bobbi Kristina is "breathing on her own but the trach has to stay" according to the doctors.
With her prognosis yet to be clarified, Bobbi Kristina is still in a long-term care facility in Georgia.
Meanwhile, Bobbi Kristina's aunt Tina Brown took to Facebook to confirm that her niece is indeed awake. She wrote, "So many messages, sorry can't answer them all right now but I will get to them later.. Just allow me this time with my family,,yes,she woke up and is no longer on life support!!!!!:):)God is good!!thanks for your prayers,,still a process,but she is going to be ok:):):):)."
