Sam Smith announced on his Instagram on April 28, Tuesday, that he had to cancel his concert tour in Australia due to a major injury to his vocal chords.

The British singer shared to his Australian fans that he is deeply saddened about his condition but he noted that after his concert in Sydney on April 27, Monday, he had a small hemorrhage on his vocal chords. Smith pointed out that he has been vocally exhausted and his doctors advised him to rest until his vocal chords have healed.

The "Stay With Me" crooner added that if he will not rest, the hemorrhage might cause a long-term issue for him. He apologized to the people who bought his tickets and assured that he or his representatives will be announcing the new schedule for the affected dates.

The cancelled shows include the last four concerts which are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. The dates might be rescheduled by December as per the statement of Frontier Touring, the agency responsible for scheduling Smith's concert dates, Yahoo News reported.

Smith is set to have his concert "In the Lonely Hour" in Asia by next week. It will kick off in Tokyo on May 7 and it appears that Smith will not be cancelling this, The New York Times reported. After the Asian leg, the singer is set to have his concerts in Europe and North America by July and August.

This is not the first time that Smith suffered from issues regarding his health as in September 2014, he had to cancel a show in Toronto because he had tonsillitis. Also, on March, he suffered from a case of laryngitis causing him to cancel another show in Milan.
