The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge from T-Mobile allegedly received the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS via Over-The-Air update.
According to Christian Today, XDA Developer user Eduardo Mera, also known as Sunderwear, showed a video of the Samsung device running with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. If the video proves to be true, the smartphone made a significant jump from Android 5.0.2 version of the operating system to Android 5.1.1 firmware.
The software made significant changes in the handset. For example, Galaxy S6 Edge updated the locks of the bootloader device and repaired the memory leak of the previous Android Lollipop OS. Another feature of the new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS is Guest Mode, which allows multiple users to access the device, but will protect the personal data of the owner. Guest mode users may also save their own apps and messages.
The handset will also be equipped with Kids Mode feature that will provide safety to the device, especially to young users.
Previous report from SamMobile cited an unnamed insider claiming that Samsung is hard at work in customizing the new Android and will roll it out to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Edge. Google recently rolled out the said version to Nexus and Android One devices. The report added that Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime is also bound to receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
The latest Android 5.1 Lollipop OS brings a number of important bug fixes and stability improvements. The new software version also brings device protection, smarter Wi-Fi, improved priority mode, new icons, new animations and dual SIM compatibility.
However, Samsung and other US carriers have not confirmed as to when they will roll out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update to Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
