"Hart of Dixie" was no longer renewed for another season and fans are speculating why this was so. Cast member Jaime King is opening up why the series creators decided it was time to bid the fans goodbye.

Prior to season four's finale, lead star Rachel Bilson already expressed her desire to exit the series, saying that she wanted to take good care of her newborn daughter.

However, despite her explanation, fans have been speculating that "Hart of Dixie" might have ended because of its poor ratings. According to multiple sources, there was an evident ratings decline in season 4.

In an interview with E! News, King slammed such rumors and said that the cancellation of the show was not ratings-centered.

"It was not like a ratings issue," King said. "It was more of a timing issue. Rachel Bilson got pregnant and wanted to take maternity leave. Every woman has the right to do that."

The actress then continued saying that Bilson's pregnancy had an impact on the decision of the show creators.

According to King, "everything has an impact on the way things are decided upon" and "it is very interesting because our fans are so devoted."

King also expressed how happy she was to have been part of such a wonderful and successful show.

Meanwhile, the network has not really confirmed whether or not "Hart of Dixie" will return for a fifth season, following its final episode on March 27, according to Venture Capital Post.

In other news, Bilson was recently spotted leaving Los Angeles with her daughter and boyfriend. According to a source, the couple wants their daughter to grow up away from the world of show business.
