"American Idol" season 14, although a reality show, seemed to be copying ABC drama "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 when it comes to "killing off a main character."

On April 23, Patrick Dempsey's character Dr. Derek Shepherd was killed off from "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 episode 22 titled "How To Save A Life." In like manner, Jackie "Jax" Cole was voted off from "American Idol 2015" on March 12, Tuesday.

With Jax, the last girl standing, no longer in the Fox singing competition, Clark Beckham and Nick Fradiani are left as the final two. Either Beckham or Fradiani will be crown as the "American Idol 2015" winner on May 13, Wednesday.

Fans rooting for Jax were apparently disappointed as they were expecting her to do what "American Idol 2013" winner Candice Glover did, which is to prevent a male contestant from bringing home the crown.

Before Glover, there was a white guys with guitars (WGWG) pattern with the champions of "American Idol" from season 7 to season 11, who were David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, and Phillip Phillips.

It was unusual for "American Idol 2015" host Ryan to announce backstage who among the finalists is going home like he did with Jax's exit. The announcement was apparently unexpected not only to Jax and her fans but also to Beckham and Fradiani.

With the crowd audibly booing in the background, the announcement of Jax's exit noticeably affected the rest of the May 12, Tuesday, episode of "American Idol 2015" in a negative way.

Either Beckham or Fradiani will become the second to last winner of the Fox singing contest as "American Idol" is set to have its final season in 2016.
