France-based video game developer Ubisoft has announced that the highly anticipated "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" will be released on Oct. 13.

"Rainbow Six Siege" is considered by many as the direct successor of the "Rainbow 6: Patriots," which was cancelled due to undisclosed reasons. Just like the other titles in the franchise, "Rainbow Six Siege" will focus mainly on multiplayer team play, tactics and realism in terms of gameplay.

The game's closed alpha version was announced on Mar. 12 and Ubisoft added that it will be released exclusively in the Windows platform. Subsequently, Ubisoft announced that the games closed beta version will be available in the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows platforms. The company added that those who will pre-order the game will be given access to the games beta version, according to Engadget.

According to Gamespot, "Rainbow Six Siege" will feature destructible maps and environment. This feature is reminiscent of the "Battlefield" type of gameplay mechanics. The game will use the AnvilNext game engine instead of the usual Epic Unreal Engine.

On its announcement, Ubisoft said, "Players will engage in sieges, a new style of assault where enemies have the means to transform their environment into modern strongholds while Rainbow Sis teams leads the assault to breach the enemy position."

Ubisoft is also prepping the game to be one of its biggest releases for 2015 and predicts that it will outsell "Far Cry 4." Currently, "Far Cry 4" sales have surpassed the seven million mark of units sold.
