"I will say this, there are talks going on at the moment," Patterson said in the podcast, emphasizing that he does not want to "mislead" the fans of "Gilmore Girls." Without giving much details, the actor said he is hopeful these talks would lead to something more definite. He said he is in, and it could be "a big event."

"Gilmore Girls" aired 154 episodes and seven seasons on The CW, from 2000 to 2007. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel topbilled the series as mother and daughter Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. Luke Danes owns the diner where Lorelai and Rory indulge themselves with an endless pouring of coffee.

Luke and Lorelai end up together in the series finale. Rory Gilmore follows her dream to be a journalist. Before Melissa McCarthy figured in blockbuster comedy films, she was Lorelai's best friend, Sookie St. James, in "Gilmore Girls." Jared Padalecki of "Supernatural" played Rory's first love, Dean Forester.

Lauren Graham continues to be active in television, adding "The Odd Couple," "Parenthood" and Web Therapy" among others in her portfolio. Alexis Bledel played an assassin in the 2011 film "Violet & Daisy" starring Saoirse Ronan and the late James Gandolfini ("Sopranos").

Bledel also starred in "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants" in 2005 and 2008. Bledel has recently finished filming two movies: "Outliving Emily" and "Jenny's Wedding."

In an Us Weekly report, Patterson was quoted as saying he predicted "Gilmore Girls" would last seven season. He said Graham thought it would go for five. The same report said Patterson is now pursuing photography.

"Heroes" actor Milo Ventimiglia was also in "Gilmore Girls" as Jess Mariano, Luke's nephew and Rory's troubled ex-boyfriend. "The Good Wife" actor Matt Czuchry played Logan Huntzberger, Rory's last boyfriend in the series. Liza Weil of "How To Get Away With Murder" was also in the series as Rory's frenemy, Paris Geller.

The late Edward Herrmann was also in "Gilmore Girls" as the family patriarch, Richard Gilmore. He passed away in December 2014. Kelly Bishop played the matriarch, Emily Gilmore. She was recently seen in "Bunheads" as Fanny Flowers.
