Race day has finally arrived in Indianapolis. After weeks of grueling qualification runs and test drives, racing fans around the world are just hours away to see the start of this year's edition of the greatest racing spectacle on the planet - the Indianapolis 500.

Scott Dixon, the proverbial favorite to win the race, will try to sustain his impeccable run over the past two weeks, topping every chart and securing the pole position in a buildup that featured five crashes.

"At the Brickyard, Dixon has made a compelling case for a loftier distinction: another Indy 500 championship to go with the one he captured seven years ago. The last two weeks have seen him lord over the practice charts and grab the pole position," Sports Illustrated writer Andrew Lawrence described Dixon's domination.

The 34-year old Kiwi speedster has accomplished a lot in his career such as three Indy Car championships and an Indy 500 crown seven years ago, earning the distinction as the Berkshire Hathaway of drivers. However, based on his performance throughout the qualifying rounds, Dixon is still yearning for kiss on the brick and drink a sweet bottle of milk at the end of the race.

Looking to derail Dixon's plan are IndyCar Series points leader and former Formula One contender Juan Pablo Montoya, three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves and defending champ Ryan Hunter-Reay.
