Apple is believed to be working on a "mini" version of its latest iPhone 6. The rumor is centered on an image of iPhone 5c that recently appeared on the Apple site. The image reportedly featuring a Touch ID sensor has led many to speculate the iPhone 6c will also have the same.
The original iPhone 5c had lacked a touch ID sensor even though the feature made its debut with the iPhone 5S. On the other hand, it had failed to gain much of a traction at the market which has led many to believe Apple would ditch the idea of launching miniature versions of the flagship phone, MacWord reported.
However, the revelation of the new image could be proof enough of Apple coming back to it again but with better features this time. The recent revelation of what is being projected to be the rear casing of iPhone 6c via Chinese parts maker Future Supplier has only added fuel to the rumor fire.
The case, according to PC Advisor shares a lot of similarity with that of the 5c but comes with some subtle variations as well. These include a vertically elongated flash compared to a circular one on the 5c as well as twin rows of speaker grills at the bottom in place of a single row for the 5c.
Apple had first launched the iPhone 5c in 2013 as a smaller, cheaper and a colourful alternative to the regular iPhone. These phones also run iOS but are made of plastic to cut costs. The California company is expected to continue the same trend with the iPhone 6c too.
Apple launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last fall but had no mention of any 'c' version being in the pipeline. However, there are also those who are advising caution and have warned it could be too early to come to any sort of conclusions as such. There usually are a lot of rumors preceding the launch of any Apple device and the lack of it for the iPhone 6c has left many baffled.
