Michael B. Jordan recently revealed a detail of Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four," in which he plays Johnny Storm, the brother of Sue Storm, played by white actress Kate Mara. Apparently, not everyone is thrilled to see an African-American actor to play Jordan's role.
In an article he wrote for Entertainment Weekly, Jordan pointed out that "Fantastic Four" is a family movie about four friends, two of whom are Johnny Storm and his adopted sister Sue Storm. He explained that the two characters are "brought together by a series of unfortunate events to create unity and a team" which Jordan says is the message of the movie that people should see.
On April 20, Jordan dropped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to talk about his upcoming film. While he mentioned that Fox and Marvel are "pretty top secretive" when it comes to their projects, it did not stop him to share some details.
According to Jordan, the biracial casting was "kind of self-explanatory." He told Jimmy Kimmel, 47, it is one of the things where he does not like drawing attention to the ignorance. When the late night host demanded an explanation, the actor said there is a thing called adoption and it happens.
Aside from the ethnicity of his "Fantastic Four" character, Jordan also talked about his Johnny Storm costume. He told Kimmel that when he is in costume and he has to go to the trailer or leave set, he has to "throw this big, huge, black cloak on."
Meanwhile, Jordan and Mara's "Fantastic Four" co-star Miles Teller is set to star opposite Jonah Hill in the Warner Bros. Picture movie "Arms And The Dudes," which will be released sometime in 2016, according to Coming Soon.
With Jordan playing Johnny Storm or The Human Torch and Mara playing Sue Storm or The Invisible Woman, "Fantastic Four" also stars Teller as Reed Richards or Mr. Fantastic and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm or The Thing.
