This week's episode of "Orphan Black" saw the demise of Sarah's confidante, Paul. The shocking twist, according to show creator John Fawcett, could change Sarah's life and bring forth shocking twists in the remaining episodes this season.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Fawcett explained why they decided to kill off Paul's character and said that they always make it a point to surprise "Orphan Black" fans with shocking twists.

This being said, Fawcett added that they do not want their audiences to always guess what will happen next in every episode, so every now and then, they kill off a major character.

Fawcett also explained how Paul's death could impact Sarah in the future. According to him, Sarah has always been very strong in dealing with all of her problems. However, now that Paul is no longer around, his death could send her on a different path, Kpopstarz reported.

Meanwhile, Sarah's sudden loss promises to bring her life story even more drama and fans will get a glimpse of this during the upcoming season finale of "Orphan Black."

Additionally, Paul's death will inspire Sarah to be the person she was always meant to be and her participation in ensuring all of her cloned sisters will survive will become even more crucial in the upcoming episodes. 

According to Fawcett, Sarah will beocme more determined after she was pushed against the wall. In an attempt to find answers about herself and her cloned sisters, she will try to do all the tough work while ensuring no one else will be put at risk. 

"Orphan Black" airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET on BBC.
