Tech giant Google announced during its I/O developers conference in San Francisco that it will be releasing its newest virtual reality kit dubbed Expedition. The kit will allow students and teachers to go on completely synced virtual field trips.

According to Tech Crunch, the Expedition virtual reality kit is composed of headsets and other hardware for students and teachers alike. It will also ship with all the necessary software needed to provide the class with a fully synced virtual field trip.

During the presentation, Google showed a video showing a group of students taking virtual trips in different destinations around the globe including the Great Wall of China and Venice.

Google is already working with several developers in order to create contents for the company's Expedition program.

According to Mercury News, Expedition will soon offer virtual field trips into some of the world's top museums, monuments, galleries and natural wonders scattered around the globe. The Expedition will roll out with pre-installed virtual tour of the American Museum of Natural History, Planetary Society and Chateau de Versailles.

Google will release the Expedition this fall.

Google also announced that the company is currently working with GoPro in designing a camera rig called Jump. The project aims to develop a camera rig that can provide a full 360-degree field of view which can be projected though a virtual reality device.

During the presentation, Google unveiled a Jump prototype composed of 16 GoPro cameras. According to Google, footages taken by Jump will be automatically processed into 3D. Additionally, videos taken using the camera rig can be uploaded and viewed on YouTube as well as Google virtual reality kit Cardboard.
