Martin's last book came out in 2011 and since then the fans are waiting anxiously for the next book. However the same year, series was adapted in a TV show that made Martin became immensely popular and busy. He attends numerous conferences, shows and conventions. Due to his hectic schedule he was not able to focus on the new book, "The Winds of Winter".

As the sixth season of "Games of Thrones" is in the pipeline, which will also feature stories from "The Winds of Winter," it is Martin's foremost priority to finish the book. In this regard, he has also canceled numerous public appearances as well, according to Ecumenical News.

"Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish, but I cancelled two convention appearances (San Diego Comic Con and World Convention), I'm turning down a lot more interviews - anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done," he told Entertainment Weekly.

Currently "Game of Thrones" Season 6 is currently being shot in Spain. The new season will premiere in Spring 2016.
