Well-known director of hit horror movies, "Hostel" and "Cabin Fever," Eli Roth, is coming up with a new spine chilling flick "The Green Inferno." The cannibal-horror film, which was actually scheduled to be released in September 2014, will arrive in cinemas in Sep. 25.

This will be Roth's first horror release in eight years, since "Hostel: Part 2" hit the theatres. "The Green Inferno" was filmed way back in 2013 and was even premiered at the same year's Toronto International Film Festival, where Open Road Films picked up its distribution rights, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The film's delayed premiere is due to financial constraint. Roth later explained via his Facebook page that the flick is saved by Blumhouse Productions.

"The Green Inferno" follows the story of young American activists, who travel to the Amazon in search of remote tribes. After some adventure, the group decides to return. On their way back, their plane crashes and they are taken hostage and is subjected to extreme torture by the man-eating tribe. The movie is based on Ruggero Deodato's 1980 "Cannibal Holocaust," Vulture reported.

"Aftershock" actress Ariel Levy, "Planet Terror" actor Aaron Burns and "Knock Knock" star Lorenzo Izzo, as well as Roth's wife will be seen in the movie, which was shot in deep Amazon forest.

"'The Green Inferno' is a wild, fun ride that took us deeper into the Amazon than anyone has ever taken a film crew," said the 43-year-old director, who is known for his explicitly violent and bloody horror films.
