A reimagined "Powerpuff Girls" is coming, and it carries the old inspiration as well as a touch of newness to the series. Cartoon Network will be bringing back the trio made of sugar, spice, everything nice and Chemical X who fight crime and save the day before bedtime.

Even though the new series is supposed to be a revamped version of the mid-90s classic favorite, IGN reported that the artwork recently released has a very familiar style to the original. Notably, the image in the link shows Bubbles, Buttercup and Blossom looking very similar to their original selves, as opposed to the last feature special that used CGI format, titled "The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed."

"It has been wonderful to see this new show team bring such passion and positive creative spirit to this iconic property. We know that fans of every age will appreciate this new take on saving the world before bedtime," said Chief Content Officer Rob Sorcher to IGN.

While fans of "The Powerpuff Girls" may be rejoicing at seeing the reunion, the same may not be said about one of the previous voice actors in the show. Tara Strong, the notable voice of the adorable doe-eyed and pig-tailed Bubbles, took to Twitter to share her feelings of betrayal at not being asked about the role, A.V. Club reported.

"I have no ill feelings for the actresses in the new #PPG. We were just beyond hurt we were never asked... every role I breathe life into I love," said Strong in Twitter.

The new cast for the reboot of "The Powerpuff Girls" are Amanda Leighton as Blossom, Kristin Li as Bubbles and Natalie Palamides as the new Buttercup. The three actresses have introduced themselves via short Vine clips, which can be viewed via the official Cartoon Network Twitter.

It does not help that old voice actors who have been in the original "Powerpuff Girls" show will be making a comeback. Notably, these are Tom Kenny who voices the narrator and the Mayor, Roger L. Jackson as Mojo Jojo and Jennifer Hale as Ms. Keen.

Debuting in 2016, the new "Powerpuff Girls" will be zipping into screens with the same old goal of teaching little children the importance of friendship and powerfully colorful action.
