The actors who will be playing the heroes' roles in Dean Israelite's "Power Rangers" film remake are still unknown, but they are reported to be new faces.
Lionsgate wants to showcase the "Power Rangers" in their late teens, so it is assumed that Israelite's film will feature younger, but unknown actors, according to Heroic Hollywood. This means that fans will not be seeing their favorite actors from the "Power Rangers" television series.
Although the upcoming film will center on teenage "Power Rangers," it does not entail that the original stars from the saga cannot have cameo or minor roles, according to Cinema Blend. It was also reported that Jason David Frank, who played the original Green/White Ranger, can play a helpful role in the upcoming film.
Previously, Israelite told Cinema Blend that the film script indicates that "Power Rangers" is going to be "mature" and "playful" at the same time. He added that the upcoming film will also feature a "wonderful" key character.
At this point, fans have to wait for further announcement from Lionsgate and Israelite on who will be the actors who will wear the colored hero costumes and the key character Israelite previously teased.
"Power Rangers" centers on six teenagers who can morph into superheroes who wear colored costumes and fight monsters that threaten Earth. They also have giant robots called Zords, which can put themselves together into a colossal fighting robot.
Aside from Israelite as the film's director, "X-men: First Class" writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are on board to pen the script of the upcoming "Power Rangers."
The new "Power Rangers" movie is set to premiere in theaters on Jan. 13, 2017.
