"Arrow" season 4 will see the return of John Barrowman's character, Malcolm Merlyn.

During a recent interview at the Las Vegas Comic-Con, Barrowman revealed that the filming for "Arrow" will commence in July. The actor also added that he just finalized a deal with the network and the show creators last week.

Although Barrowman did not divulge details about the upcoming season, he teased that fans of Malcolm, Oliver Queen, Thea Queen and the Canary sisters will all be happy with what is going to happen in the next installment. The actor also added that there will be major twists regarding these characters.

Meanwhile, iDigital Times confirmed that Barrowman will not play the role of a villain in season 4. "Arrow's" newest villainous characters will be Damien Darhk and H.I.V.E.

In season 3, Damien was mentioned but his identity was never revealed. In season 4, he will finally be introduced and he will be taking advantage of the opportunity to move in and seize control over the League of Assassins.

According to Screen Rant, Malcolm and Oliver can work together the minute Thea or Speedy descends into madness around the same time. If this were to really happen, Malcolm could seek the help of Oliver causing him to return as Arrow despite previously revealing his identity.

However, Stephen Amell previously claimed that Arrow will not be seen in the first few episodes of season 4 because the character already gave up his suit. This being the case, it would be unwise to return now that everyone already knows his real identity.

"Arrow" season 4 will return to The CW this coming October.
