Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release may not happen as the tech company is adopting a new approach under its new leadership and it may axe the Surface line.

Satya Nadella took over as the chief executive of Microsoft replacing Steve Balmer and he wrote a letter to Microsoft employees explaining his plans for fiscal year 2016. While most of the letter contains inspirational and uplifting words that aim to boost the morale of the employees, it also narrated that the company will adopt "One Microsoft" approach.

Geek Wire got hold of the letter and posted some parts of it. Specifically, it stated, "We will need to innovate in new areas, execute against our plans, make some tough choices in areas where things are not working and solve hard problems in ways that drive customer value."

Although Nadella did not specify the areas that are not working, there are two projects where Microsoft has been investing a lot, but has not reaped a lot of rewards: Windows Phone and Surface.

While the Surface Pro 3 was received greatly by critics and reviewers, it did not translate much in terms of sales as other brands still proved to be more popular than the Surface tablet-laptop hybrid. This put the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release in a tight spot and there is no guarantee if Microsoft will release it under Nadella's leadership.

On the other hand, if Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release is indeed happening, reports claimed that it will take place on June 29 alongside Windows 10. Microsoft may be hinting what you should get yours father or husband on Father's Day this weekend as it slashed up to $150 off the Surface Pro 3 tablet-laptop hybrid. The company has offered numerous discounts for Surface Pro 3 in the past months to keep consumers interested in the device.

Meanwhile, some of the purported features of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are: 12-inch screen display with 2K pixel resolution, Intel Skylake processor, stylus, and USB Type-C port. Just like the previous Microsoft Surface Pro 3, the device will sport a keyboard accessory that will transform the device into an ultra-portable laptop. Moreover, the Redmond-based tech giant previously indicated that it would ensure compatibility of accessories like its Type Cover 3 and Docking Station with future generations of the Pro.
