Apple will give the new iPhone a major makeover; something that analysts claim will bring a sea change to the way the smartphone has been operated ever since its inception nearly eight years ago.

iPhone with Force Touch have entered production, according to The Sydney Morning Herald. Force Touch technology allows the user to elicit different set of responses depending on the intensity of the pressure applied on the touchscreen. This also opens new opportunities for Apple iPhone sans the physical home button. Sure that would seem a bit too radical at the moment since it would entail relocating the touch sensitive hardware that right now sits within the home button.

However, with reports of Apple already working on incorporating the Touch ID integrated into the touch sensitive display itself, an iPhone version sans a physical home button does not seem too far off.

As envisaged by Sam Oliver of Apple Insider, a light press could make for a tap, a firmer press could be to invoke the app while an ever deeper press could be to bring the home display. Apple already has the tech up and running on the Apple Watch and the latest MacBook.

Force Touch will also allow Apple a firmer lead over nearest rival Samsung that boasts of various innovations on its newest Galaxy S6 which includes a curved display as well as front facing cams to track eye movement.

Apple launched its biggest iPhones yet last year, including a phablet. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus measure 4.7 and 5.5 inches to match the Android smartphone offerings that had long adopted bigger displays to entice buyers. While that allowed Apple to march ahead of Samsung vis-à-vis smartphone sales, Force Touch could enable to stretch that lead even further.
