The Father's Day price cut by Motorola of its Moto 360 smartwatch in June has been extended. The Google-owned tech firm reduced the price of the timepiece to $149 from the original price of $250, and it looks like it would remain that way until the release of the second-generation watch in the later part of 2015.

Android Authority believes the price cut is permanent and worth it for people who are not looking to buy the second-gen upcoming model. Although it acknowledged that the device is not the most powerful smartwatch in the market, "$150 isn't much to spend on a device that may end up adding a ton of convenience to your everyday life."

These conveniences include monitoring the heart rate and track the user's steps through its activity tracker as well as using it even in wet activities since it is water-resistant. The watch has a 1.56-inch LCD touchscreen and a 320 x 2990-pixel screen resolution. As the very first Android Wear in the market, Moto 360 is capable of supporting any gadgets that run on Android 4.4 Kitkat or higher, notes Masterherald.

If the Moto 360 would be purchased from Google Stores, the only color options available are the Black or Stone Gray. For those who want more choices, it is better to go to Motorola with the buyer could customize the colored bands and cases, although the site reminds its readers that the metal band is pricier.

The watch, launched way ahead of Apple Watch, is proof that functional could be fashionable too. While Moto 360 does not pretend to be elegant like other designer timepieces, the device's circular watch face "is still a cut-above the rest" compared to other smartwatches on the market such as the Pebble Steel, Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch, declares Masterherald.

There are two basic themes for Moto 360 - light and dark. The light theme offers six designs, namely: Roman Face, Classic Face, Dials II Gold Face, Retograde Face, Dials II Silver Face and the Blossoms Face. The five dark theme designs are Minimal Face, Pascual Face, Digital Face, Dials Face and Rotate Face.
