A couple from Southern California went for a sea trip for their wedding anniversary where in a bizarre turn of events, a 350 pound dolphin came leaping onto their boat and pushed the woman over, that injured both of her ankles.

The couple, Dirk and Chrissie Frickman along with their two children were cruising on their boat off Dana Point Harbor last June 21 when a pod of dolphins went along with their boat, swimming along. However, one of the dolphins jumped onto the 21 foot boat and hit the railing where it bounced inside the bow.

Chrissie Frickman ended up pinned under the six foot dolphin where the creature went thrashing around. Her husband immediately pulled her under, setting her free however the dolphin was still thrashing around in a state of panic and bleeding when it sustained wounds and cuts from the back of the boat.

According to Chrisse Frickman, it looked like it fell from the sky since it was so high, higher than a person; it was really traumatizing. She broke one ankle and had a torn ligament in the opposite leg.

The Laguna Niguel family's ordeal lasted for half an hour as they are in a state of shock, calming one another. The dolphin still continued to slide and thrash around the boat where the family was trying to get out of harm's way after the dolphin slammed into the mother, still bleeding profusely.

According to Dirk Frickman, the dolphins apparently injured its nose and tail where the blood started to splatter everywhere. Their teenage children were still afraid for the dolphin's life.

Dirk Frickman immediately radioed the Sheriff's Department Harbor Patrol, reporting the bizarre and dangerous accident involving the dolphin where the patrol responded by pulling the mother and daughter out of the boat to the shore and to an ambulance.

Dirk Frickman stayed by the harbor and poured water over the dolphin, hoping to calm the estranged animal. Two people helped Dirk by getting a rope around the dolphin to return the animal back into the water where the wounded dolphin swam away.
