The lasers are part of an initiative which Zuckerberg calls Internet.org which is a joint venture between six firms and Facebook to bring affordable internet to users in developing countries, according to the Mirror.

On his Facebook page Zuckerberg revealed that his team of developers has been experimenting with satellites and drones to connect those outside of a possible wireless network with the Internet.

He describes the project as a "laser communication system" capable of beaming data from the "sky into communities."

The social media titan went on to imply that should the technology be successful it will prove to be a faster means of transferring data across long distances.

In addition to Zuckerbergs revelation about the use of lasers in the evolution of the internet he further mentions that in the future he believes telepathy can be the ultimate means of communication according to a report by Engadget.

The tech website quoted a Q and A session the founder had with followers where he says that the company is looking at Artificial Intelligence (AI) as he and his team believes the technology will prove to be more useful.

The social media guru went on to say that his team is looking into developing AI technology capable of detecting information from images and videos even from those of people, backgrounds, objects and locations.
