David Haye expressed interest in fighting for the WBC heavyweight crown against Deontay Wilder while announcing he had no interest in facing fellow-Brit Tyson Fury.

Haye has been inactive since knocking out Dereck Chisora in 2012 while Wilder is undefeated in 34 fights and stopped all but one of his opponents.

The 34-year-old Haye would probably need at least one tune-up win before the WBC will give him a shot against Wilder as a voluntary defense. However, some observers say that the WBC may go ahead and sanction a Wilder-Haye title fight because of the money it could generate.

But Wilder will also need to win his next fight on September 26th and then defeat Alexander Povetkin in a mandatory defense before Haye gets hit turn.

Haye admitted that Wilder can punch, having been hit by the American several times on the chin during their sparring sessions. But the British fighter is confident he will be able to bring as much punching power in the ring against Wilder.

The Haye-Fury fight was previously scheduled twice in 2013 and 2014 but Haye withdrew both times due to injuries.

Haye doesn't want to fight Fury anymore, insisting that  the latter is a bad luck charmsince he supposedly suffered two injuries preparing to fight him.

Fury's trainer--uncle Peter Fury says he doesn't deserve a crack against Wilder.

Peter Fury said Haye is "no longer the big superstar he thinks he is" and criticized him for avoiding Tyson and in running away during his title fight with Klitscho.

He added that Haye is a fool for wanting to go straight to a world title shot after being practically retired.

Meanwhile, Tyson Fury is slated to fight IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in either September or October as mandatory challenger for the WBO title.

Haye said that Tyson Fury is in for a beating against Klitschko since he never fought anyone as big as the champion who can really punch back.

He added that he'll be "very, very surprised" to see Fury get in the ring with Klitschko, insinuating that the British fighter will try to back out.
