Shen indicated her hopes that women from the two sides would conduct friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation under the framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt initiative, proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013.

Also known as “One Belt, One Road” project, the initiative aims to consolidate the Silk Road region into a cohesive economic area by building infrastructure, broadening trade, and increasing cultural exchanges.

Huseynova passed on her thankfulness to the ACWF for the sincerely warm invitation and reception.

The leader of the delegation also expressed her anticipation that further efforts would be made to ramp up bilateral friendship, to provide further support for women's communication, and to deepen joint action with the ACWF.

Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Meng Xiaosi also spoke during the meeting.

Meng held in-depth talks that focused on the two countries' work and initiatives to push for gender equality and women's development.

Just recently, Meng also stressed the importance of women's economic empowerment in her speech during the 7th China-U.S. Women’s Leadership Exchange and Dialogue.

Besides Shen and the members of the delegation, Azerbaijan Ambassador to China Latif Gandilov was also present at the meeting.

The organization will head to Qingdao, a city in east China's Shandong Province, to monitor women- and children-related work.
