There are a few things already known about Google's release date plans for the Nexus 2015 but they are mostly speculative. Thankfully there are leads that point to the hard facts that somehow paint a general picture of the next vanilla Android flagship.

Amidst the continuous inflow of rumors, there are floating details - specs and features - about the device that likely will make the final cut. Listed below are eight of these:

Android M

This is a given, that for every new Nexus device to come out a new Android will be in tow and as confirmed by Google last May the mobile operating system to debut with its 2015 flagship is called Android M. What M stands for remains the subject of guessing games though Google was kind enough to drop a clue - the name is likely of something sweet.

Fingerprint sensor

Packed with Android M are native support for fresh handset functionalities and one of them is fingerprint scanner, which actually was hardcoded with the mobile OS when Lollipop was issued in 2014. It is said that in the upcoming version of Android and Nexus device, the quality of fingerprint reader will be in the same level seen with the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6.

USB Type-C port

Android M, according to BGR, is also designed to support USB Type-C so it is likely that the Nexus 2015 will have a port to accommodate the technology. For Nexus fans, this would mean faster data transfer and more importantly superfast power recharging.

Still no memory expansion

Like in the previous models, Google is unlikely to provide provision for extra memory in the Nexus 2015 but to compensate the tech giant may just include a 128GB internal memory configuration to join the 32GB and 64GB rolled out with the Nexus 6 last year. But this remains in the rumor category.

LG as one of the builders

Android Pit claimed in a recent report that Google sealed a deal with LG to build a 5.2-inch Nexus that likely will be the Nexus Bullhead mentioned in recent report. The information, the report said, came from an unnamed LG insider.

To build from scratch

The same report indicated that the Nexus 2015 coming out from LG's production lines will be built starting from zero, meaning the device will not be based on any existing prototype of LG flagship phones - past and present. This runs in counter with speculations that the next Nexus will be patterned after either the Nexus 5 or the LG G4.

A phablet Nexus

While LG is reportedly tasked to assemble the Nexus Bullhead, rumors have it that a bigger Nexus Angler at 5.7-inch is also in the works and Huawei will be chosen one for this phablet Android flagship. However, there are talks that the device could be modelled after a jumbo-sized variant of the Moto X 2015.

Unboxing timing

When is the Nexus 2015 coming out? Geek Snack said in a report that the device is likely to unbox at around the same time that Google will roll out Android and that likely will happen in August. If the report will prove accurate, the Nexus 2015 release date could be as early as next month.
