Rumors about the updated MacBook Air 2016 started anew and speculations immediately prompted that it will face-off with Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

Rumors previously claimed that Apple will release the iPad Pro as its entry in the budding "laplet" market, but it seemed that it will stick with its MacBook to do the job. Meanhile, Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is highly anticipated by consumers thanks to the success of the previous Surface Pro 3.

However, both Microsoft and Apple have not officially confirmed the existence of MacBook Air 2016 and Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Below is the comparison of the rumored Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and MacBook Air 2016.

Screen Display

MacBook Air 2016 will surely follow the screen size of its previous models - 13 inches and 15 inches variants. Microsoft Surface Pro 4, on the other hand, will pack 12-inch screen panel, although some reports claimed that Microsoft may come with larger screen variant of the popular laptop-tablet hybrid. Both devices may sport 2K pixel resolution.

Processor

MacBook Air and Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are rumored to be updated and will run with Intel's Broadwell or Skylake processor. This will give both devices better and faster processing power.

Storage

MacBook Air 2016 will have storage variants as big as 1TB, while the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will have 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB storage variants.

Operating System

MacBook Air 2016 is purported to pack the latest OS X El Capitan that will bring forth new Apple features such as Apple Pay. Meanwhile, Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will arrive with Windows 10 operating system that will incur great changes in the interface.

Battery Life

One of the major consumers is the battery life of the device. Rumors claimed that both devices will have longer battery life in comparison with their predecessors due to the new power-hogging features to be included in the device.

Release Date 

Several reports claimed that MacBook Air 2016 will arrive in October alongside the new devices in the iPad line, while rumors pointed that the Microsoft will be unveiled as early as July 29 alongside Windows 10 operating system.
