The Netherlands international is currently "aggressively" being courted by the two English squads to fill up a need in their midfields although there were still no announcements of a final decision from either Wijnaldum or the Peasants.

According to the Daily Mail Online, The Magpies' managing director Lee Charnley went to the Netherlands on Tuesday to talk with PSV executives of a possible £13-million transfer of the 24-year-old playmaker to Newcastle.

While Rood-witten officials were reportedly amenable with the offer, it is still up to Wijnaldum to personally decide whether he wants to play at St. James' Park or not.

However, another offer from Newcastle's rival club Everton had allegedly made Wijnaldum think twice about moving to Tyneside.

Speculations emerged that The Toffees want the Rotterdam native as their own star midfielder, Ireland international James McCarthy, is contemplating a move to Tottenham. Roberto Martínez wants an insurance on the Goodison Park midfield if ever the McCarthy transfer materializes and Wijnaldum is said to be on top of his wish list.

If ever the Blues would win over United, then it would be a big loss for newly-appointed coach Steve McClaren as he had made the Dutch midfielder his major target during this preseason.

The Magpies reportedly want Wijnaldum on board before the team plunges in on their US tour starting July 14th against Mexico's Club Atlas at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Time may be running short for McClaren as there are still no final words from PSV.
