The countdown clock appears to start ticking for the Google Nexus 2015 release date as the Nexus 9 now sells for as low as £200 (or around $300) in the United Kingdom. The mouth-watering deal mainly involves Amazon and UK retailer Argos, both offering the 16GB Nexus 9 with £100 plus price drop.

The promo also applies to the 32GB variant of the vanilla Android tablet, according to Engadget, noting too that the huge discounts were not seen on the Google Play Store, which in recent days dangled the Motorola Nexus 6 with price drops of up to $150 that left the 32GB edition of the pure Android flagship ready to take home for only $500.

At any rate, the marketing push promises more than a good buy for tablet shoppers as the Nexus 9 is a wonder device both in the hardware and software departments. In shelling out $300, buyers will get a mobile machine that is fired up by a 2.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra K1 processing chip that Google paired with 2GB of RAM. These specs tell of a fast and snappy performance from the HTC-made slab.

The 8.9-inch display boasts of 2048 x 1536 screen resolution, which doubles as the viewfinder for the 8MP rear camera that counts on a 1.2MP front camera as partner. Further highlighting the premium make of the Nexus 9 is its Corning Gorilla Glass screen coating that normally is the display protection used in flagship devices like the iPhone 6.

This irresistible deal came as Google starts giving out huge discounts on the Nexus 6, which according to reports is being implemented worldwide and should take effect until supplies last. The move, Engadget said, indicates that Google is in "managing stock mode," and trying to push out remaining units fast likely in preparation for its upcoming hardware refresh.

While the Nexus 9 is not expected to get a sequel this 2015, all eyes are on the follow up to the Nexus 6, which reportedly will be replaced by two models this year. One will be the 5.2-inch Nexus Bullhead that LG will put together and the other is the 5.7-inch Nexus Angler that Huawei will take charge of. It is said that the phablet-size Nexus is the reason why a tablet Nexus device will not be made.

Confirmed details remain elusive for both devices though for the smaller model rumors abound that LG indeed is the manufacturer and will likely build the handset around the Nexus 5 that was rolled out in 2013. If so, basing the Nexus 2015 from an earlier model makes sense as "the Nexus 5 had a compelling value proposition," The Motley Fool said in a report.

"Specifically, the Nexus 5 brought top-notch processing, solid design, and Google's brand cachet to prospective smartphone users for a relatively inexpensive price," the same report added.

So with all these flurry of price slashes coming from Google and its retail partners, it is safe to assume that the Google Nexus 2015 release date might happen sooner than expected. The floating bet is launch time could be as early as September this year with the Android flagship likely unboxing with the raw beauty and power of Android M.
