A recent tweet from voice actor Akio Otsuka may have breathed a new life about the rumored closure of the legendary Kojima Productions, the Japanese video game developer responsible for the "Metal Gear" franchise.

Otsuka is the Japanese voice behind "Metal Gear" characters' Big Boss and Solid Snake. A translation of his tweet was picked up by Kotaku, which reads, "Kojima Productions got dissolved and due to the team's hard effort, the game is just about finished. This is no exaggeration, but it's bound to be a supreme masterpiece."

Kojima Productions was founded by Hideo Kojima in 2005. Kojima is well-known in the video game community as the creator, director and main writer of the "Metal Gear" series of video games. Kojima Productions is a subsidiary own by Konami Corporation.

Konami has yet to comment about the current status of Kojima Productions. However, rumors kept coming up claiming that the production company is indeed closing. According to Polygon, the speculation about Kojima Productions' status started to surface when the company's logo was taken down from Konami's official "Metal Gear Solid" website.

Another news that increased the speculation about Kojima Productions closure was the cancellation of a reboot of "Silent Hills" in April. In the same month, Konami announced that the company is focusing more on the mobile platform and will downgrade its priority in the console gaming market. The statement dealt a backlash on Konami since the company has been making console video games for majority of its existence.

On the other hand, the "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles on Sept. 1.
