The Canadian singer explained that the belfie, or butt selfie, was done as a joke and he never intended to offend anyone with the public display of his pale backside that got 1.9 million likes a few hours after he posted it on the photo-sharing site.

On Saturday, he wrote, "Hey I Deleted the photo of my butt on Instagram not because I thought it was bad but because someone to me's daughter follows me and she was embarrassed that she saw my butt and I totally wasn't thinking in that aspect."

Bieber had in the past posted naked photos of himself on his Instagram accounts, including images showing his butt crack. TMZ had previously published a similar photo of the "Boyfriend" singer nude with just a guitar covering his genitals but with a back shot of his derriere. His last week's post was not really the first time he showed his fully unclothed backside, which actually delighted many mature fans.

However, despite deleting the photo, surely thousands of Beliebers surely had downloaded the photos on their computers and smartphones and could easily share it with one click. For instance, the website justjared.com carries the photo, taken in Bora Bora, and could easily be found through Google search.

Besides Bieber, other celebrities have also deleted their photos on Instagram, although not all of these images are unclothed. The list includes Ariana Grande, Cody Simpson, Nathan Sykes, Kylie Jenner, Harry Styles, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Ashley Benson and Austin Mahone. Chrissy Teigen, who posted also a posterior photo of husband John Legend, has not deleted the image of his legendary backside.
