Jon Watts' "Spider-Man" reboot film is coming to theaters two years from now and "The Amazing Spider-Man" director Marc Webb has revealed his thoughts on Marvel taking over the upcoming film.

In an interview with MTV, the "The Amazing Spider-Man" director said that he is happy that the iconic web-slinger superhero is back with Marvel's Cinematic universe. He said that he was bothered and was quite sad for turning over the friendly neighborhood superhero back to Marvel.

For Webb, Spider-Man is a Marvel character that truly deserves to have cinematic adaptations. He also mentioned that the world wall-crawling superhero has the high potential for incarnation, regardless of the version or the plot of the story being showcased.

According to Cinema Blend, Webb confided his desire to expand a sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," which was set to feature Venom and The Man in the Hat. The latter is the enigmatic individual who serves as the key to the emergence of the Sinister Six.

The plot of "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" was linked to a "Sinister Six" film, as well as a spin-off film with a female lead character. Nonetheless, the shortage of plot details of the cancelled third "Spider-Man" installment led Webb and the production team to present Peter Parker using a formula to revive his loved ones who passed away.

"The impossible" actor Tom Holland is set to play the role of the iconic Marvel superhero while "Crazy, Stupid, Love" actress Marisa Tomei has been purportedly enlisted as Parker's Aunt May.

Watt's "Spider-Man" is set to premiere in theaters on July 28, 2017. Watch Webb's interview with MTV here:
