The Samsung device with codename Orbis turns out to be the company's newest smartwatch called Gear A. Rumors claim that the Samsung Gear A will be released alongside the Galaxy Note 5 on Aug. 12.

According to GSM Arena, the Samsung Gear A will have an Exynos 3472 chipset consisting of a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and a 450MHz Mali-400 MP4 graphics processing unit. The smartwatch will have 768MB of internal memory, 4GB storage capacity, 250mAh battery and Bluetooth 4.1.

According to Techno Buffalo, Samsung Gear A's battery is a bit larger compared to the one installed in the Apple Watch and this should power Samsung's smartwatch for at least a day.

The smartwatch has an integrated GPS and several sensors including accelerometer, barometer, gyro and a heart rate sensor which is common in almost every smart wearable device.

The Samsung Gear A is believed to have a 360 x 360 pixel resolution although the display size of the smartwatch has not been confirmed yet. There are rumors claiming that the device will be similar to the widely successful Moto 360 which sports a 1.56-inch round display.

Another set of rumor claim that the Samsung Gear A will have a bigger display than the Moto 360. However, many tech analysts said that anything bigger than the Moto 360 will be an unwieldy design although Samsung can still cut some edges and release a much thinner smartwatch.

Perhaps the biggest feature of the Samsung Gear A is its navigation software which is powered by Samsung's own Tizen operating software. Aside from the regular swipe navigation, Samsung Gear A will have a bezel ring that functions just like a camera's focus ring.

Analysts speculate that the Gear A will be released alongside the Galaxy Note 5 on Aug. 12 and if this will not happen Samsung will most likely unveil the two devices in September at the Berlin IFA conference.
