While most tech companies are finding ways to get their smart wearable devices on the market, HTC on the other hand is delaying the release of its own product called The Grip.

The Grip is a fitness band developed by HTC together with Under Armour. The fitness band was first unveiled at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona and HTC announced there that the product will be ready by spring. However, HTC announced that it will the release of The Grip until the end of the year.

HTC released an official statement saying, "Our goal is to offer best-in-class products for our customers and partners. After extensive wear testing and user feedback, we have decided to align GRIP with the entire product portfolio for health and fitness launching later this year."

The company added that the health portfolio due to be released at the latter part of the year will be comprised of different products powered by UA Record.

While many were disappointed about the current setbacks that regarding The Grip. Many tech analysts said that HTC's decision to hold back the release date of its smart wearable device is critical to its success since the market is currently flooded by many fitness bands like FitBit and Jawbone, according to The Verge.

According to Mashable, the Grip was initially reported to fetch a retail price of $199 and will be released as part of the Re line of fitness trackers aimed for runners.

Delaying the release date of the Grip means that HTC will have more time to tweak the device and possibly throw in some new features. Tech analysts are speculating that HTC might consider integrating the Grip with health platforms such as Apple Health or Google Health.
