The report said that France won the Olympic gold in 1998 and claimed the world title in 1998. On the other hand, Russia got the Olympic Games title in 2000 and the 2001 world championships crown.

In the 2006 final, the Chinese team was the only non-European team with a gold medal in this event at the world championships after beating France, the defending champions at the World Fencing Championships in 2006. The victory marked the first time that the team won a group championship at an international sports event.

After winning their second gold medal in women's team epee, China now joins Hungary (8), France (4), Russia (4) and Romania (2) among the teams with multiple gold medals in the event.

Earlier in the tournament, Xu Anqi bagged the bronze medal in women's epee. Xu also got her third medal and first gold medal in this event, after claiming two silver medals in the women's team epee in 2011 and 2013.

Meanwhile in the men's event, Ukraine completed the medal set in men's team epee after previously claiming the silver medal in 2013 and the bronze medal in 2005 and 2006.

According to the report, Ukraine now has the world championship gold medal in all three individual events and in team sabre and team epee in both men's and women's events.

South Korea ended as a runner-up, leveling their best ever result in men's team epee.
