Pacquiao was supposed to be in Los Angeles on July 4 to start the rehabilitation program with Dr. Neil ElAttrache, the surgeon of Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. Instead of showing up, Pacquiao cancelled the appointment, Arum told ABS-CBN.

ElAttrache repaired the torn rotator cuff of Pacquiao which was injured at the fourth round of the boxer's bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr who won the fight via unanimous decision.

"You got an operation like that, you got to do rehab, you got to get the doctor to look at it and guide you on the kind of rehab that you can do," explains Arum who adds that Pacquiao is a "grown man" who can make his own decision.

On the day of his U.S. trip, Pacquiao went to Indonesia to visit a Filipina maid in death row, accused of being a drug courier.

Another big decision that Pacquiao made was to pull out his four children - 14-year-old Jimuel, 13-year-old Michael, 8-year-old Princess and 6-year-old Queen Elizabeth - from the prestigious Brent International School in Canlubang, Laguna. From Laguna, the family, including one-year-old Israel, would lead a simpler life in General Santos City in Mindanao. It is Pacquiao's hometown, although as a representative, he is congressman of the nearby Sarangani Province.

Pacquiao's wife, Jinkee, also announced her decision to quit politics when her term as vice governor of Sarangani ends in 2016 to spend more time with their children, whom the 36-year-old boxer said have adjusted anew to their life in the province where they were initially raised by the couple when Pacquiao was still unknown and poor.

It helps that Pacquiao's financial needs as well as his family is assured since he earned another $160 million during his bout with Mayweather. That would further cement Pacquiao's place as the richest congressman in the Philippines with a net worth of 1.7 billion pesos, according to his 2014 Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.
