"Iron Man 3" director Shane Black recently confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will once again reprise his role at Tony Stark in a fourth sequel.

According to Master Herald, Black recently sat down for an interview where he said that he was certain Downey Jr. will be back for another "Iron Man" film. Black's confirmation came just a few weeks after reports that a younger actor named Ty Simpkins will take on Downey Jr's role in "Iron Man 4."

Simpkins previously starred in "Iron Man 3" where he played the role of Harley Keener. At that time, Marvel Studios saw the potential of the young actor and considered him for the bigger role. Also during that time, Downey Jr. was reportedly demanding a raise so a negotiation took place.

Meanwhile, "Iron Man" is confirmed for release this coming 2019. According to Venture Capital Post, it is highly likely that the film will be released after Marvel Phase 3.

In other news, there are reports that "Iron Man 3" would have been a much stronger film if the Marvel Studios decided to kill off Tony Stark's best friend, Happy Hogan. In the film, Happy was placed in a coma, which he eventually got out of and this has made the film less impactful.

It is unclear whether or not Happy will be killed off in "Iron Man 4" or whether or not he will still return to the franchise. What is only known as of late is that the film will still star Downey Jr. and his onscreen partner, Gwyneth Paltrow.
