According to latest reports, Apple's upcoming smartphones, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, are housing a 32GB storage before they hit the market in September of this year.
The Cupertino-based Apple is beginning at a new base storage of 32GB for the upcoming iPhone devices, Made in China Gadget reported.
According to Foxconn sources, packaging for the iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6S does not indicate a 16 GB storage. Apparently, iPhones' box stickers say 128GB, 64GB and 32GB. Foxconn is Apple's biggest manufacturing partner.
This is not the first time that the tech giant Apple was rumored to be ditching the 16GB storage option for the iPhone 6S. Last June, The Korea Times said that the Cupertino-based company is negotiating a higher capacity memory deal with the mobile manufacturer Samsung for the new smartphones.
iPhone 6 uses NAND memory chips produced by SanDisk, SK Hynix and Toshiba. Samsung was not chosen as a memory supplier for the iPhone 6 smartphone because of its high prices.
At present, the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 have built-in storage of 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. The iOS 8 consumes about 20 percent of the memory which means about 13GB will be available for users to store up their music, pictures, apps and other files.
Oher specifications of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus include a better LTE modem, 2 GB RAM, NFC, 12 MP rear-facing camera, Force Touch and A9 processor.
If the 32GB storage is true, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus may cost potential buyers an additional $100. The two smartphones are scheduled to be released on September 18.
Furthermore, the GSM Association, which represents hundreds of mobile operators worldwide, will announce a new e-SIM standard pretty soon, according to a ZDNet report. The report added that Apple's new iPhone could be first to ditch physical SIM card. The e-SIM will make it possible for consumers to sign up for, transfer and switch plans from the smartphone itself.
