Following an exchange of bittersweet tweets, Taylor Swift admitted misunderstanding Nicki Minaj's post and apologized to the latter yesterday.

"I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki." tweets Swift. Minaj responded in less than an hour, thanking Swift and noting that her apology means so much. The two celebrities, despite momentarily misunderstanding each other, never replied with ill words.

After the Minaj's music video "Anaconda" failed to hold an MVA nomination for the Music Video of the Year category, Minaj took to Twitter to express her disappointment to the system. The only women nominees are Beyonce and Swift.

Minaj blamed Hollywood's double standard for women as the reason for her failure to be nominated. She claimed that non-black women with slim bodies get a better chance.

Swift, being the only white woman to be nominated in the category, reacted "@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.."

Katy Perry Attacks Taylor Swift?

Swift's frenemy Katy Perry joined the Twitter banter as she wrote, "Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman..." While the tweet is a bit confusing, a blog pointed out that Perry thinks Swift benefited from Hollywood's double standards on women.

Perry also mentioned her friend Rihanna, asking why the "Bitch Better Have My Money" singer was snubbed by MTV.

The blog also hinted that Swift's MTV Video Music Awards nominated song "Bad Blood", which talks about two women who lost their friendship, might be about Swift and Perry. Swift once told Rolling Stones that "Bad Blood" is about another female artist.

Other Celebrities Joined The Twitter Feud

Meanwhile, the rest of Hollywood had given their take on the issue. "Keeping up with the Kardashians" star Kim Kardashian tweeted "Imma let you finish but...". We can recall that Kardashian's husband Kanye West uttered the same phrase when he grabbed the microphone from Taylor Swift at the MTV MVA in 2009, CNN reported.

Video of the Year nominee Bruno Mars also hopped in the social media row writing "Yo I want in on this twitter Beef!! VMAs is the new WWF!! @edsheeran F*** You!". Ed Sheeran, who was mentioned by Mars, is another nominee in the category.

The exchange continued until Swift invited Minaj to join her on stage if she ever wins. Swift has nine MVA nominations this year while Minaj is nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video.
