NBA's boss, Commissioner Adam Silver strongly believes that NBA could perceive a day when Becky Hammon or any other female take a position as a head coach.

Silver said on July 22 that he had contacted Hammon while they were in Las Vegas, where she was the coach of Spurs to the Summer League championship July 20 night, NBA reported. The commissioner acknowledged the San Antonio organization for hiring Hammon last season to be the first full-time woman assistant in the NBA and placing her in charge of its entry in the Vegas league.

"No big deal than for me in improving in my career, unless you get such chances, you are never going to unveil your capability to be successful," Silver said. "Therefore, I am greatly proud of Hammon and proud of the players who have ensured that she gets a top-notch position as a coach and have been ready to learn from her as fast as possible."

Hammon is a former WNBA superstar who had been employed by Spurs coach Gregg Popovich last season before completing her career as a player in San Antonio, ABC News revealed. After helping him with a wide range of coaching obligations during the summer season, Hammon took the team in the NBA's top summer league.

Under Hammon's leadership, Spurs lost their first match and then won the rest before defeating Phoenix on July 20 to take the championship. At the time, Commissioner Adam Silver had already come back from Las Vegas but followed up the game on NBA TV.

Silver spoke at the Beyond Sport United program, where he join former NBA superstar and league universal ambassador Dikembe Mutombo and female's reputable Teresa Edwards on a panel to discuss the social obligations of the league and its players.
